On Sunday 27th November, Special Olympics Sydney Upper North Shore held its Annual General Meeting at Kuring-gai Town Hall. The event saw a great turn out and concluded with every athlete being awarded a certificate and a Special Olympics goodie bag.
Special thanks go to Lynn and Dale Campbell and all of the Epping Eastwood Lions club volunteers for running the barbeque on the day. Be sure to support the club by buying a cake or pudding for Christmas the next time you see them!
Thanks also goes to the Storage King team for kindly providing SOSUNS with free lock up this year.
Merry Christmas and we hope to see you all next year!
Nalyn was one of a few lucky Special Olympics athletes who got the opportunity to welcome home the Australian Olympic team at Admiralty House.
On Sunday 7 August 2016 an inter-club tennis competition was hosted by Sydney West SO Tennis. Six athletes from SOSUNS competed in the Single and Skills events.
As tennis is quite a popular sport for our region, we encourage more athletes to attend, starting at the skills level, and work their way up to competing in match play. Continue reading Caterson Tennis Competition
On Saturday 6th August, several of our SOSUNS athletes were rattling buckets at Bray’s Castlecrag IGA as part of the National IGA Community Chest initiative.
It was a good day with the rain holding off and plenty of people about. A big thanks to the Bray’s team who were hugely supportive and provided a few flags to brighten our display along with a tin of short bread for the raffle.
SOSUNS will also be fundraising at IGA Castlecrag this Saturday 13th so if you would like to help out please let us know – the more the merrier!
SOSUNS athlete Nalyn has been selected to represent NSW in the Marie Little OAM Shield. She will be participating in the netball state competition on 20-21 August.
Nalyn and her team were presented with Waratah Pins last week to recognise their outstanding efforts in netball this year (Nalyn is the one smiling in the photo above!).
Nalyn will also be helping out with the Central Coast 2016 Gala Day on the 24th July, a netball event hosted by Special Olympics Australia.
Well done Nalyn!
Cricket, skiing, rowing, tennis, dancing… is there any sport Nathaniel doesn’t do?
