The excitement of SOSUNS athletes was obvious by the big smiles on their faces as they gathered together, ready to participate in the 2010 Run With the Law.  Nathaniel stood calm and proud, excited to see one of his heroes, footballer Craig Wing, Michael and Brandon were excited, ready to take their turn with the torch, James had the honour of actually holding the torch whilst it was being lit,  Ryan, Sophie, James, Bec and Ashley all chatted and laughed, impatient for this once in a lifetime experience to begin, Lauren carried the NSW State flag high and Shaun and Mel high fived and cheered their way along the course. The smiles on the audience were a pleasure to behold.  They clapped, laughed, moved to the music in their seats and then finally unable to contain themselves any longer, those that could, jumped up and joined in.  Once again the SOSUNS performance dance group did a fantastic job bringing joy to their audience. SOSUNS Performance Dance Group Wow the Gold Coast

The SOSUNS performance dance group really is becoming famous!

Late last year Mat Rogers and Chloe Maxwell, whose son has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, invited the group to travel up to Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast and perform at a fundraising weekend the couple had organised.

With great excitement the dancers travelled by train and plane, accompanied by family, friends and their wonderful dance teacher Cathy.

The train travellers, Stewart, Emma, Lachlan and Andrew arrived a day early and together with Audrey, who was already holidaying on the Gold Coast, they were invited by Chloe to attend a formal dinner that night.  Off to the shops the group rushed where with the help of Jo and Aunt Bernie they were outfitted to look a million dollars and in Emma’s case like a princess!

The dinner was amazing as the dancers were met at the door by Mat and Chloe and made to feel very special.

The following day the plane travellers arrived and after a fun lunch filled with laughs, travel stories and inspirational group bonding it was time to head to the venue for rehearsal.

The night’s lineup was almost as famous as our dancers - Paulini, Melinda Sneider, the Australian Girls Choir, Sandra Sully MCing and more.

Our dancers commected with the audience (around 1500 people) in approximately 2 seconds and did a fantastic job.  There were many happy tears and a standing ovation at the end of an incredible, perfect performance.  Chloe said that the dancers truly contributed to the night being special and promptly booked them in for another fundraiser late this year.  Even Sandra Sulley had to wipe away a tear before she could introduce the next item.

SOSUNS Celebration of Dance

The 2009 dance program finished spectacularly with a dance concert featuring five of the SOSUNS dance groups and the Inala Music Ensemble.  Held at the kindly donated Turramurra High School Hall, the concert showcased our athletes dancing routines they have spent much of the year learning at lessons attended each week.  Each group performed at least two dances for an appreciative audience whose only complaint for the night was that it had to end.
