Basketballers Win Special Olympic Gold

The atmosphere was electric with excitement and anticipation as the SOSUNS basketball team began their campaign for gold at the recent State Basketball Championships held in Newcastle. Held over two days the team played and won all three of their round matches on Saturday.

Oh what a night! The very first SOSUNS concert featured 4 of our dance groups performing a total of 9 dances. Special guests Elaine Malicki and Jennifer Anderson, Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Kuringai, summed up the night when with great emotion they thanked the dancers for the privilege of being able to be there and watch them.

On arriving at the Collaroy Tennis Centre on Saturday 7th March, ready to participate in the Special Olympics State Tennis Championships Ashley felt ‘..eager, but nervous..’. With his good luck companion, Biscuit the dog, Ashley was about to have the time of his life.

Jacob loves the water! At every opportunity he jumps in, fearlessly, with great squeals of excitement and happiness. Playing in the water is fantastic therapy, exercise and fun for Jacob. There is, however, one problem. Jacob cannot swim. This is a problem encountered by many Special Olympic athletes. Read more
