Sydney North swim carnival results

SOSUNS athletes recently had a great time competing at the Sydney North swim carnival.   Congratulations to all athletes who did such a great job of representing SOSUNS and also achieved fantastic results.  Results from the carnival are as follows:

Lucy Dumitrescu - 1st 100m freestyle, 2nd 50m butterfly, 3rd 50m freestyle, 2nd 50m backstroke

Christopher Edwards - 1st 25m freestyle,  1st 50m freestyle, 2nd 25m backstroke

Romy Ferreira - 4th 50m freestyle, 3rd 25m butterfly, 2nd 25m breaststroke, 4th 50m backstroke

Lauren Heggie - 2nd 50m freestyle, 4th 50m backstroke, 3rd 50m breaststroke

Melissa Eustace - 7th 50m backstroke, 4th 50m breaststroke

Would you like to run with the Special Olympics torch?

In 2010, Police officers will take the “Flame of Hope” torch across 40 cities in 29 days leading into the opening ceremony of the National Special Olympics Games being held in Adelaide.   This Law Enforcement Torch run event is Australia’s biggest fun run event for 2010.  All athletes, whether you are competing in the games or not, coaches, volunteers, supporters and famly are invited to participate.  To register, visit the link www.runwiththelaw.com.au

Hornsby PCYC Football Update

Everyone is really excited to be back and playing football and are training hard for the competition in Sydney South early next month.

We’ve welcomed a few new faces to football - welcome Jack and welcome back Joshua.  Bruce is doing a terrific job of blowing the whistle from the sidelines as he is still recovering from surgery.  James spectacularly missed a shot into an open goal during the game this week - to the anguish of fans watching.    The twins (Jack’s brothers) are whizzing around the court like maniacs but are still to get the better of Alex.

Training is on at Hornsby PCYC, 6pm-7pm on Wednesdays during school terms.  If you would like to join you are most welcome!  For more information contact Sabine Schreuder on 9456 6887.

SOSUNS Athletes Blitz Golf

SOSUNS athletes, Luke and Tom recently competed in the Central Coast Regional Golf competition.  They bravely played through extremely hot conditions to beat all before them. 

Playing in Division 1, Luke came first in the 9 hole competition while Tom won the Division 2 open competition playing 18 holes with a great score of 105.

Both athletes are off to Adelaide for the National Games in April and it looks like their training is right on course!!
