Look out Cougars……… what a practice session!

The athletes definitely kept me on my toes as we learnt all about the positions in the field together, as well as doing some exercises on fielding and batting.  We had some outstanding fielding practice, with team work the main focus.

All the athletes tried their hardest in this training session but special mention needs to go out this week to firstly our trophy winner Andrew.  He persevered and tried his hardest.  Michael for his efforts in the field, Harry for his excellent fielding, Patrick for his patience and Paige for her pure “awesomeness”.

Change of season is upon us again!  So we have some time off before we begin again at Steelers, Golden Jubilee Oval, Wahroonga on 20 September.  I look forward to seeing you so we can improve our skills and make mince meat of any team we face!

Don’t forget to practice during your break.

If you have any questions about dates and where the field is, please email Cath_h_2002@yahoo.com

Finally, a big thank you to all the athletes and aprents for coming on Sunday!

SOSUNS Versus Cougars

What a game!  Thanks to the Cougars for coming out to give our Athletes a run for their money.

The game was brilliant and we ‘thrashed’ the Cougars 9 to 7.

In one innings our athletes got 3 outs with no runs!!!!!!!!!!!!

The athletes would like to thank Brett for organising the Cougars and also would like to thank all their fans on the sidelines (their families) for their encouragement and jumping up and down every time they made a run or got someone out.

And a word from the coach (me Audrey) to my fabulous team - WOW you guys were brilliant!!!  All the athletes were fabulous but I would like to note down a couple of very special athletes in this game.  These are Patrick - well done for making some awesome outs, Andrew for a brilliant slide - hope you didn’t hurt yourself and Mel for being brilliant in any position on the field!  Thanks to the rest of the athletes for trying your hardest and working as a team.

We look forward to seeing everyone back again this Sunday at St Ives.  We’ve got to get our practice in because I am sure when the Cougars return it will be with avengance.

Finally a quick congratulations to all the North Shore Athletes who made the State team - well done!

Unfortunately we had another clash of event times with SOSUNS dance so we missed seeing some of our regulars such as Mel, Shaun and Lachlan.

Our three players, Michael, Alistair and his brother Lewis had an action packed game that saw some great sprinting by Alistair to out run his Dad on first base and Mum on third base.  The fielding from the adults was somewhat ordinary to say the least.

Audrey awarded a trophy to Lewis for the cracking hit of the day!

We had a special guest, Audrey’s Mum Dot, who is visiting from Melbourne and she managed to keep Audrey on her best behaviour!  Thanks again to Andrew Eustace for assisting Audrey with the coaching.

Given this coming Sunday is on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, we will take a poll to see whether we play or not.

Finally, many happy returns go to Ian, Alistair’s Dad, for this coming weekend.

The only two players, Carmen and Michael, enjoyed one-on-one coaching.  Brett taught a new skill of picking the ball up off the ground cleanly, ensuring that you have a good grip.  Audrey awarded a trophy to Michael for concentration and listening.

A big thanks to Andrew Eustace who also diligently assisted with activities (as normal) despite Mel having a day off.  Mel had uncharacteristically slept in after getting home in the wee hours from a big SOSUNS dance performance.  So we will excuse her this once!

Looking forward to seeing you all back ready for a great session next week!!!!
