Tribute to SOSUNS Coaches
February 11, 2010 by deb
SOSUNS coaches truly are inspirational! Every week they attend our numerous sports, venues and times, bringing along with them tons of enthusiasm and dedication, determined to teach our athletes to do their best in an atmosphere of fun and acceptance.
Many of our coaches volunteer their time free of charge or for a minimal token payment. Our athletes are determined, prepared and skilled. They are inspired and motivated by SOSUNS’ amazing coaches who encourage them to always strive for their personal best.
Coaches and volunteers at the SOSUNS Norwest Swimming encompass all that our athletes appreciate. For the last five years they have been coming weekly to teach numerous athletes patience and determination, a love of water and most importantly how to swim. SOSUNS swim coaches are a vital part of the region as they teach athletes a skill that can in fact save their lives.
Alvin teaches three tennis groups per week at North Ryde RSL and has developed a dedicated group of budding young competitiors who cannot wait to take to the court each week. Similarly we have Nick, Steve, Marty and Ashley, just to name a few, who strive each week to make tennis fun while still sneaking in a bit of fitness and skills.
Brett continues to dedicate Sunday mornings to the laughs and high fives which as we all know are vital to any softball session.
SOSUNS is extremely fortunate to have on board highly qualified coaches, prepared to give their time each week to teaching our athletes the skills of sports they themsleves love so much.
Northern District Cricket Club first grade players have a great time smashing a few balls around every Monday night.
Epping YMCA and Hornsby RSL gymnastics coaches have also committed to weekly sessions teaching the often much needed balance and gross motor skills needed for every day life as well as gymnastics.
There is also soccer, dance, golf and basketball coaches quietly and without fanfare, working each week to help our athletes gain skills, compete if they wish to, improve fitness and have a brilliant social time with friends.
So to all our SOSUNS coaches and volunteers, you are too many to mention individually here, but rest assurred each and every one of you is a precious part of the lives of the SOSUNS athletes you coach and we are grateful and honoured to have you on board.
