Tennis Cove and Marty Sports Support SOSUNS

Eighteen months ago a group of athletes living in the Chatswood/Willoughby area desperately wanted to join Special Olympics and learn how to play tennis.  There was just two problems - extensive phone calls and research had failed to find them a coach or a venue.  And then to their rescue came David Falconer of Tennis Cove and Martin Coles of Marty Sports.

Every Saturday afternoon eight very enthusiastic athletes meet at Willoughby Girls High School on a tennis court supplied for free by Tennis Cove where they are coached by Marty Coles with assistants Benn Fitzgerald and Ashley Springett.  Tennis Cove also generously allows Marty and our athletes to use balls and equipment kept at the courts.  The athletes have been meeting for 18 months and their improvement has been enormous with some even ready to start concentrating on playing singles.   With lots of high fives, games, laughter and encouragement from Marty, Benn and Ashley we have a group of athletes who keep returning week after week.

The Tennis Cove court is well located for everyone and in fantastic condition and Marty runs sessions which are great fun while still focussed on improving the skills of all the athletes.
