Congratulations to SOSUNS Nathanial Quan who was placed in the final 3 applicants vying for the 2009 SOA Dr John Day Award.
This award is presented annually to an athlete who embodies the spirit of Special Olympics by showing leadership on and off the sporting field. Athletes considered for the award have made a significant contribution to the organisation through sport or coaching and have shown leadership skills in promoting Special Olympics.
As Catriona Barry, Special Olympics CEO says,
’To be nominated for such an award is a great achievement for all athletes and the three finalists should be very proud of being shortlisted. They are role models to their fellow athletes and in their communities.’
The winner of the 2009 Dr John Day award was Eastern Suburbs Special Olympics athlete Saxon Graham.
