SOSUNS Tennis Tournament a Success!

What a smash, volley, serve, overhead! Listen to the laughs! Watch the high fives! Check the good sportsmanship! A wonderful time was certainly had by athletes and spectators alike at the recent regional tennis tournament hosted by SOSUNS.
Despite uncertain weather, over 50 athletes and approximately 100 spectators descended on the Hills District Tennis Centre at Dural for a day of fabulous tennis, fun and entertainment. Athletes were placed in 7 singles and 3 skills divisions and enjoyed the opportunity to show off their admirable skills to friends and family.
There were numerous highlights on the day including:
- Blue sky over the courts at 7am and the subsequent great decision by SOSUNS to risk the weather and go ahead with the tournament
- Encouragement shouted by one athlete to another on the tennis court despite them competing against each other
- One athlete offering the other a few free points so that they could ‘..catch up..’
- One athlete excited to lose to love because he claimed to be ‘..full of love..’
- Shouts of joy and smiles of pride as athletes were awarded their ribbons
- Athletes, spectators and volunteers chatting, watching the tennis and thoroughly enjoying the delicious barbecue lunch supplied by SOSUNS
On the 2nd August all of this will be repeated as Sydney West region hosts their annual tennis tournament. Look forward to seeing you all there!!
